Description

The Sony α100 is a 10.2-megapixel APS-C digital SLR and the first DSLR released by Sony after acquiring Konica Minolta’s camera division.

It inherits many technologies from Minolta cameras, including sensor-shift image stabilization (Super SteadyShot) and compatibility with the long-standing A-mount lens system, allowing use of many existing Minolta AF lenses.

The camera also introduced features such as Eye-Start autofocus, which activates autofocus when the photographer looks through the viewfinder, and a dust-reduction system that vibrates the sensor to remove dust when the camera is turned off.

With its manual controls, optical viewfinder, and interchangeable lenses, the α100 was designed as an entry-level DSLR for photographers moving up from compact cameras into interchangeable-lens photography.
