Description

The Jupiter-8 50mm F2 (LTM / L39 Mount) is a legendary Soviet standard prime lens celebrated for offering authentic classic Sonnar-style character at an exceptionally accessible price point. Produced primarily by the KMZ factory in the USSR, the lens is a direct optical derivative of the pre-WWII Carl Zeiss Jena 50mm f/2 Sonnar formula.

Engineered with 6 elements in 3 groups and a 9-blade aperture diaphragm, the Jupiter-8 delivers a distinct vintage rendering characterized by smooth background bokeh, beautiful subject isolation, and rich micro-contrast. Shot wide open at f/2.0, it produces a dreamlike softness and gentle glow that is particularly favored for vintage-style portraiture, while stopping down to f/4 or f/5.6 yields impressive sharpness across the frame.

Constructed with a native L39 / Leica Thread Mount (LTM), a 40.5mm filter thread, and an ultra-lightweight aluminum chassis weighing just around 130 to 160 grams, the Jupiter-8 50mm f/2 is an ideal match for Leica thread-mount rangefinders, Soviet Zorki/FED cameras, or modern digital mirrorless systems via simple mechanical adapters.
