Description

The Nikon FM2 N8 is a silver/chrome-finish version of Nikon's classic fully mechanical 35mm SLR. The FM2 combines a mechanically controlled shutter with speeds from 1 second to 1/4000 second and Bulb, while its TTL center-weighted meter provides electronic exposure guidance without being required for the camera's basic mechanical operation.

The camera features a Nikon F mount and a 93% coverage eye-level viewfinder with a split-image/microprism focusing screen. Its 1/250-second flash synchronization, interchangeable focusing screens, multiple-exposure capability, and compatibility with the MD-12 motor drive make it a highly capable manual SLR system.

The included Nikon AF Nikkor 35-105mm F3.5-4.5 is an autofocus standard zoom originally introduced during Nikon's transition into the AF era. The lens uses a 16-element, 12-group optical design, a 52mm filter thread, and a seven-blade diaphragm. It also provides a dedicated Macro focusing function, allowing considerably closer focusing than its normal 1.4m minimum focusing distance.

Although the lens is autofocus, the FM2 itself is a manual-focus camera, so the lens is used with manual focusing on this body. The 35–105mm range provides a practical combination of wide-angle, normal, and short-telephoto perspectives, making this set suitable for everyday photography, portraits, travel, and close-up work. Nikon itself notes that the 35-105mm design continued through several versions during the transition from manual-focus to AF NIKKOR lenses.
