Description

The Rolleicord IV (Model K3C) is a classic 6×6 medium format Twin Lens Reflex (TLR) camera manufactured by Franke & Heidecke in Braunschweig, Germany, between late 1953 and 1954. Positioned as the lightweight and accessible sibling to the flagship Rolleiflex series, the Rolleicord IV is highly praised for combining high-end optical quality with mechanical reliability.

Optically, the camera features the exceptionally sharp Schneider-Kreuznach Xenar 75mm f/3.5 taking lens paired with a bright Heidosmat 75mm f/3.2 viewing lens, both equipped with standard Bayonet I accessory mounts. It utilizes a mechanical Synchro-Compur MX leaf shutter capable of speeds from 1 second to 1/500 second plus Bulb, featuring full M and X flash synchronization.

A pivotal upgrade in the Rolleicord IV was the introduction of an internal double-exposure prevention mechanism coupled with the automatic frame counter, featuring a manual override lever for intentional double exposures. Featuring a folding waist-level viewfinder with a pop-up magnifier, lightweight aluminum construction weighing just 830 grams, and compatibility with 120 roll film as well as 35mm film via the Rolleikin II kit, the Rolleicord IV K3C remains an exceptional entry point into German-engineered medium format analog photography.
