Description

The Sigma 300mm F4 APO Tele Macro HSM is a long telephoto prime lens designed for Canon EF-mount cameras. Combining a 300mm focal length with close-focusing capability, it offers a versatile solution for wildlife, sports, nature, and detailed outdoor photography.

The lens can focus as close as 1.2m and provides up to 1:3 reproduction, giving it useful macro capability for flowers, insects, and other small subjects. The 300mm focal length also provides strong subject isolation and compression, making it effective when working from a distance.

Its optical construction consists of 10 elements in 7 groups, including two SLD elements designed to help control chromatic aberration. The constant f/4 maximum aperture provides good light-gathering capability for a 300mm lens, while the nine-blade diaphragm contributes to smooth out-of-focus rendering.

The HSM autofocus motor provides quiet autofocus operation on compatible Canon EOS cameras, with manual focusing also available. With its substantial construction and approximately 1.47kg weight, this is a serious vintage telephoto lens suited to photographers looking for the reach of a 300mm prime combined with useful close-focusing performance.
