Description

The Canon EF-S 35mm F2.8 Macro IS STM is a compact APS-C macro prime lens designed for close-up photography and everyday shooting. Its 35mm focal length provides a 56mm-equivalent field of view, making it suitable not only for macro subjects but also for food, still life, portraits, street photography, and general-purpose use.

The lens is capable of 1:1 life-size reproduction at a minimum focusing distance of just 13cm. Its built-in Macro Lite features LED illumination on both sides of the front element, allowing photographers to control left-side, right-side, or dual illumination when working with small subjects such as flowers, food, accessories, and products.

Canon's Hybrid IS system is designed to compensate for both conventional angular camera shake and lateral movement that becomes particularly noticeable during high-magnification macro photography. This provides up to four stops of stabilization under suitable shooting conditions.

Autofocus is driven by a lead screw-type STM motor for smooth and quiet focusing, with full-time manual focus available. The F2.8 maximum aperture also provides useful low-light capability and shallow depth of field, while the seven-blade circular diaphragm helps produce smooth out-of-focus areas.
