Description

The Konica C35 EF is a compact 35mm film camera introduced in 1975 and is notable for being one of the earliest compact cameras to feature a built-in electronic flash. The “EF” designation refers to its Electronic Flash system.

It features a Konica Hexanon 38mm F2.8 lens with a four-element, three-group optical design. Focusing is performed manually using a zone-focus system with preset distance positions, while the CdS metering system automatically controls the exposure.

The programmed exposure system operates between 1/60 and 1/125 sec., with the film speed manually selectable from ISO 25 to 400. The built-in electronic flash has a guide number of 14m at ISO 100 and uses two AA batteries, while the light meter uses a separate 1.35V mercury battery.

With its compact body, fast 38mm F2.8 Hexanon lens, simple zone focusing, and distinctive built-in flash, the Konica C35 EF is an interesting early compact film camera for everyday photography and collectors of classic Japanese cameras.
