Description

The Leica Mini Zoom is a compact 35mm film camera introduced in 1993 as part of Leica's Mini series. It combines a Leica Vario-Elmar 35-70mm zoom lens with automatic exposure, autofocus, motorized film transport, and a built-in flash in a small point-and-shoot body.

The Leica Vario-Elmar provides a versatile 35–70mm focal range with a maximum aperture of f/4.0–7.6. Its seven-element, six-group optical construction covers the 24 × 36mm 35mm film format, while the active infrared autofocus system provides automatic focusing from 0.6m to infinity.

Exposure is handled automatically through center-weighted integral metering and program automation. The camera offers several flash settings, exposure compensation of ±2 EV, infinity focus, a 10-second self-timer, and shutter speeds from 1/4 to 1/300 second, with B mode available for longer exposures.

With its compact body, motorized film transport, integrated flash, and unusual Leica Vario-Elmar zoom lens, the Mini Zoom offers a straightforward way to shoot 35mm film while retaining the distinctive character and design associated with Leica's compact camera range.
