Description

The Leitz Canada Telyt-R 250mm F4 is a long telephoto lens for the Leica R system, produced in Canada by Leitz. This 3-Cam version belongs to the earlier 250mm F4 design and uses a 6-element, 5-group optical construction.

Its 250mm focal length provides a narrow 10° field of view, making it well suited to distant subjects, wildlife, sports, landscapes, and detailed outdoor photography. The maximum F4 aperture provides useful light-gathering capability for a lens of this focal length.

The lens focuses manually down to 4.5m and features an 8-blade diaphragm with apertures from F4 to F22. It also has a built-in extensible lens hood and accepts Series VIII filters, with an E55 retaining configuration.

This 3-Cam version is an important distinction within the Telyt-R 250mm F4 family. It should not be confused with the later Type II 250mm F4, which uses a different 7-element, 6-group optical design, E67 filters, and a much closer 1.7m minimum focusing distance.
