Description

The Nikon ED AF Micro Nikkor 70-180mm F4.5-5.6 D is a specialized telephoto macro zoom designed for Nikon F-mount cameras. It combines a versatile 70–180mm focal-length range with close-focusing capability, making it suitable for both conventional telephoto photography and detailed close-up work.

The lens can focus as close as 0.37m and achieves a maximum reproduction ratio of 0.75x at 180mm. Its relatively long working distance is particularly useful for photographing flowers, insects, and other subjects where additional space between the front of the lens and the subject is desirable.

Nikon's optical design uses 18 elements in 14 groups and incorporates ED glass to reduce chromatic aberration. The dedicated micro focusing system maintains a consistent working distance while zooming, allowing photographers to change framing without losing focus on the subject.

The lens features autofocus, a focus-limit switch, and a built-in rotating tripod collar. With its 70–180mm range, strong close-up capability, and ED optical construction, it is a distinctive choice for photographers looking for a single lens capable of handling both telephoto and macro applications.
