Description:
The Nikon F Photomic FTN “Apollo” is the last production version of the original Nikon F series, produced around 1972–1974, marking the transition between the Nikon F and the Nikon F2. The “Apollo” nickname was given by collectors to this late version because of its visual and mechanical updates that resemble early Nikon F2 bodies.

Built with Nikon’s renowned precision and durability, the FTN “Apollo” features a solid brass body with mechanical shutter operation and a coupled TTL (Through-the-Lens) exposure meter housed in the Photomic FTN prism head. The meter reads light using Nikon’s 60/40 center-weighted system, a breakthrough technology at the time. The camera is fully mechanical, requiring batteries only for metering, and offers complete manual control, making it ideal for photographers who prefer full creative command.

The “Apollo” version is easily recognized by its black plastic-tipped advance lever, shutter speed knob, and self-timer lever—features carried over from the Nikon F2 design. It remains a highly collectible camera, valued for both its historical importance and its unmatched build quality.
