Description

The Nikon Nikkor 18mm F3.5 Ai-S is a classic ultra-wide-angle manual focus prime lens celebrated for its rugged precision engineering and exceptional optical performance. Produced from 1982 through 2005, it replaced the earlier 18mm f/4 Ai lens, introducing a brighter maximum aperture, an improved optical construction, and a standard 72mm front filter thread to minimize corner vignetting.

Offering a dramatic 100-degree picture angle on 35mm full-frame format, this lens is ideal for landscape, interior, and architectural photography. Optically built with 11 elements in 10 groups, it features Nikon’s Close Range Correction (CRC) floating-element system, ensuring superior sharpness, high contrast, and minimal aberration even when focused down to its 0.25m minimum focusing distance.

Featuring a durable all-metal barrel, smooth fluid focusing action, an Ai-S aperture coupling ridge, and a 7-blade diaphragm, the Nikkor 18mm F3.5 Ai-S remains a prized vintage ultra-wide optic for both modern mirrorless shooters (via adapter) and traditional Nikon F-mount film photography enthusiasts.
