*READ* Canon Zoom Lens FD 85mm F1.2 L

The Canon New FD 85mm F1.2 L is a high-speed manual-focus telephoto prime optic from Canon's professional L-series lineup. Introduced in 1980 for Canon FD-mount 35mm SLR cameras, it combines the classic 85mm portrait focal length with an exceptionally bright f/1.2 maximum aperture, establishing itself as one of the finest portrait lenses of the manual-focus era.

Its massive f/1.2 aperture provides an exceptionally shallow depth of field, enabling dramatic subject isolation with smooth, creamy background rendering. Optically constructed with 8 elements in 6 groups, the lens incorporates a precision aspherical element alongside a floating focus system to correct optical aberrations and preserve razor-sharp resolution across all focusing distances.

Featuring a close 0.9m minimum focus distance, an 8-blade diaphragm, a standard 72mm filter thread, and Canon’s legendary Super Spectra coating, the lens weighs approximately 680 grams—offering a noticeably more compact profile than its autofocus EF successors. Its extraordinary optical character, tactile manual focus operation, and distinctive red-ring L-series heritage make the New FD 85mm F1.2 L a highly coveted centerpiece for Canon collectors and modern mirrorless photographers shooting with adapted vintage optics.
